Webb deVlam is proud to have worked on the recently launched Bombay Sapphire Distillery Laverstoke Mill Limited Edition Bottle. The bottle represents a broader branding exercise that we carried out which took into account all touchpoints such as print advertisements, website design, and other associated assets.
The house style which we created evokes the history of Laverstoke Mill which is entwined with the legacy of the Bombay Sapphire recipe from the reign of Queen Victoria in the 19th century onwards. For many years Laverstoke Mill made the paper for and printed the banknotes for the British Empire, meanwhile the gin and tonic was becoming the drink of choice in the tropics.
The illustration work on the bottle and pack, which was done by artist Si Scott, very much took inspiration from banknote design with all its curlicues and flourishes. The rich environment and wildlife which surrounds the Mill, and which is now a designated Scientific Site of Special Interest, was also a heavy influence demonstrating the natural element of the Bombay Sapphire gin recipe. In fact the botanicals which are integral to the unique taste of Bombay Sapphire are housed and grown in what is the focal point of the distillery, the greenhouses with their distinctive, organic forms. All these themes come to life in the beautifully constructed Limited Edition bottle which maintains the Bombay Sapphire equities but in a taller, elegant, stoppered bottle that celebrates the home of Bombay Sapphire.
